This is how I disappeared.
I found myself sitting, staring out of my bedroom window, watching a couple of kids play a game of hide and seek. Days like these were much simpler. No bills, mortgage payments, unemployment, dating life, basically not being adult. The main objective was imagination.
I was dreaming of what life could be. A life full of adventure, spontaneity and mischief. Breaking the rules, making mistakes repeatedly. Fueled by fire and desire, running as if you are in some badass action film. One moment you’re running and the next you stopped to look back and…que in the explosion. BOOM!
I jump off a building and crash landed on the roof of an abandoned glass warehouse. The impact left cuts and bruises on my hands as I watched the blood dripping from them. As fragile as broken glass so is broken promises and shattered dreams, are all merely reflections of my past. Liberated by the burning building of my doubts. I begin to feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins. You know that sinking feeling in your stomach when freefalling, every part of you is accelerating at the same rate and you feel the sense of weightlessness and I began to float. Floating towards a cloud of thoughts. I looked around and everything slowly turned into dust. I was left standing in an abandoned street of lucid dreams.
I wish I didn’t care all the time
I see a blue door with a golden knob. An exact replica as the one I had when I was younger. I made my way to the door hoping it was a way out here. I opened the door and walked inside; it was dark. A spotlight lit up and I found myself on stage in front of a laughing crowd. I became the laughing stock by the way I looked, the way I talked, the way I thought, at the way I… QUIET!
The space felt still, and they were gone.
A mirror emerged from the blood red stage curtain. I walked towards it and…
Is that me?
I said hello, but she didn’t answer back.
She looked as if she was trapped. So, I tried breaking the mirror, but she just stared at me and said;
‘It is not I that is trapped.
It is you. Let me go.
I like it in here and want to stay in this dream forever.
I am a ruler of lands, Queen to all.
I want to sleep here forever and not feel no more.
But I ask of you to Ignore the world of formalities and you shall rise at dawn
Before…’
She slowly begins to fade away, I tried everything to make her stay, before what?
I woke up and went to my bedroom window to let in some fresh air. I found myself sitting, staring out of my bedroom window, watching a couple of kids play a game of hide and seek. I just had a dream about that.
