Letting Go

Written by Cody Collins

It was so simple before we met.

It was as if catastrophe was my shadow. It was made in stone. It was set.

I don’t mind the amount of times you broke me down. I mind the amount of poems I wrote for you

I don’t mind the hurtful things you used to say to me. I mind the time I wasted figuring out If you love me back

I don’t mind the love that we love. I mind the effort put into convincing myself I was ready for it again

But no more. No more unseen efforts. No more grey ticks. No more emotional spoken word. The fact that I thought I needed you is absurd.

I breath out. I let go first. My growth will out run you. My glow will dim every future you had of us.

This time I stand with lust on my shoulders. Fuck all these posers. I create beauty love and they the destroyers

I win

Cause you gave up
