It was a Monday afternoon, after a late nap that I saw a school ants forming a line like some children into the basement of my new home, with my new girlfriend. It’s been two months now and I can say that it finally feels like home. It’s just these ants are not great guests – if I wanted someone to mess up my home, I would’ve gotten children. It was actually weird that there were so many ants all over, my girlfriend and I kept the house very clean since we both started working from home and she hated mess, she was such a clean freak it kind of reminded me of my mother, but I don’t who taught her that, because she said she was raised by her sister, not her parents, because they passed early in her life. Talking about her sister, her house also always had ants roaming around, maybe it runs in the family.
Also, the house always smelt like a perfume store in Canal Walk, so much so you could smell it if you walked pass the house. I talked to my girlfriend about this and she snapped back as quick as a seagull catching fish at the beach, “I’ll clean it up”. She replied so fast it kind of gave me a fright, and made me confused as to why she wanted to do that.
The next day, the ants appeared again, forming the same line to the same place and this is after my girlfriend wiped them again and even sprayed some vinegar water to keep them away. The line was now formed on the ceiling down to the basement…so I decided to follow them and maybe get rid of the object they were headed towards…and when I got there…my body went numb and I fell to the floor as one does when they faint…it was a dead body.
When my girlfriend came back from the store, I told her about the body, expecting the next people I tell to be the police…but these next few words changed that: “It’s my mother.”. Yeah, hold on. That’s not even the craziest part… “I keep her body here…to feel closer to her, and my sister keeps our father. The ants will be coming for a while, since the freezer she’s in is broken. But that’s okay right?”
Yeah, no.
