I had it in good authority to claim you.
I'd have called you by my name and tried to give you some of my world,
More than some might think you deserve, in fact!
But I left this piece of us untitled, without a label on,
nameless, unofficial. unceremoniously without...
And so, you up and set away,
Now, I'm upset and unsettled,
up the stairs and set
in another's settlement.
I'm unset and up, settled like
runny pudding left for (not) long enough in the fridge
and I'm running - in my mind -
quicker than my guts being chased by cliched butterflies.
I am up, set, and seated behind him.
Wondering if he could tell I staring at the back of his head,
And then suddenly, he turns and stands to be in front - towering over me.
His presence, most of the time goes over my head.
He says something, but it goes in and out of my ears, quite quickly.
Now, he thinks he has it in good authority to claim it.
To call me by his name and give me the world,
More than I deserve! A title to his ultimate devotion.
This thing that we have...
But I've not put a label on,
I'd rather leave this settlement nameless,
unofficially not his but not another's.
unceremoniously without a title.
And now, just now,
To up and set away.
And just now now,
To up and settle, back to who...
