Te amo

Written by Wonga Tsalupondo

Pronunciation: Tay-ah-mo: translates to, 'I love you.' It is said that the phrased it rarely used, thus absent of any ambiguity, it's not classical; it has an honest and immaculate meaning to it, and should be reserved only for such use.

From the day we met

You offered the true essence of you

That is: you’ve been the same person ever since

Meaning: you weren’t playing a role of someone you thought I wanted you to be,

And that allowed me the space to do the same

That’s when I knew that our love is pure

This love made me feel recognized

It made me feel what it means to be loved,

And what it means to be the lover

I got to recognize myself in you,

And I got to love you, too

I got to tap in in the duality of love:

Lover and beloved

From here onward –

Not to say that what we have is not enough

Or that I need and want more than I already got –

But I hope we yield more into what we have

To be Present and to dwell in this rare and divine experience

Te amo.
